Jump to section

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth involves the delivery of healthcare services using electronic communications, information technology, or other means between a healthcare provider and a patient who are not in the same physical location.

This may include consultation, diagnosis, treatment, transfer of medical data, and education using interactive audio, video, or data communications.

Your Rights

  • You have the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting your right to future care.
  • You have the right to request an in-person visit instead of telehealth.
  • All existing confidentiality protections, including HIPAA, apply to telehealth services.
  • You have the right to access your medical records generated during telehealth interactions.

Risks & Limitations

  • Technology failures may interrupt or prevent your telehealth session.
  • Despite reasonable efforts, information transmitted may be insufficient for appropriate medical decision-making.
  • Delays in evaluation or treatment could occur due to technology issues.
  • In rare cases, the provider may determine that telehealth is not appropriate and may recommend an in-person visit.
  • Telehealth is not appropriate for emergency situations. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Communication Methods

Our telehealth services may be conducted via:

  • Secure video conferencing — HIPAA-compliant video sessions with your provider.
  • Phone consultations — Audio-only sessions when video is unavailable or unnecessary.
  • Secure messaging — Asynchronous communication through our encrypted patient portal.
